I love the Clifton Sausage, but then who doesn't? Apart from vegetarians perhaps, although they are catered for as well.
Not only is there a great range of sausages and various types of mash available, but a fantastic stock of wines and I've spent a few evenings just sitting at the bar enjoying that without going near a banger.I love the Clifton Sausage, but then who doesn't? The Brunel Raj has for many years been regarded as the top Indian in the area and I think that their menu is one of the best for covering the whole of the Indian sub-continent. The Rose in Clifton is one of the best places in the area for great Sunday Roast. I went here on a recommendation and feel that i can now recommend this pace to others. Pirates and Roses is probably the most atmospheric, original, and fun shop in Bristol. If youâ¬"re the kind of person who loves rummaging through the downstairs section of BS8 or find Park Street a haven of quirky shops then I urge to so venture slightly further into Clifton to find this place. It is laid out like a pirate ship, with the stock being their loot, overflowing from the tables. They also never reorder anything once itâ¬"s sold, so that you leave feeling like you really have gotten yourself a one off piece. Pod is one of those shops you wander into and come out with bags bulging full of stuff you never knew you needed. They have a huge range of knick-knacks and odd bits and pieces, and the whole feel of the shop fits in perfectly with its location in the beautiful Clifton village. La Tasca is a great place to head to on an evening with a group of friends. The Spanish theme is very authentic, and the tapas are really tasty and varied â¬ definitely worth ordering a number of different ones and sharing them amongst you. They do some lovely sangria to wash it all down with too, and the free salsa dancing night on a Friday makes for a great fun evening!La Tasca is a great place to head to on an evening with a group of friends. We ordered from Rosie and Richard's (http://www.rosieandrichards.co.uk/aboutus) for our daughter's 9th birthday party. We ordered 60 cakes to be decorated with both girls and boys in mind and they were amazing! They were hand delivered to our door and looked like something out of a magazine. Pretty pinks for the girls, blues for the boys, fairy dust, sprinkles, the works. And they tasted like pure heaven too... not great for my ongoing diet!! ;-)

They were gone within minutes (so the diet was grateful I didn't get thirds!) and were the hit of the party! Will be ordering from R&R again for our other kids' parties and already have an order in for our anniversary party and a corporate event at work.

Sarah, the owner, is so helpful, and so easy to work with and did everything she possibly could to make my little girl's party perfect. Cannot recommend enough!!

The Nuffield Health, Fitness & Wellbeing Centre therefore has the immediate advantage of being one of the few within easy commute to most workers on their way to or from the office, with it being situated at the top of Park Street, on the south side of the Triangle. With a rather eye-wateringly high membership price of Â£50 per month, you would expect something above your average local leisure centre gym, and if you can afford it then you wonâ¬"t be disappointed. The gym and fitness centre itself comes highly recommended by a number of national fitness publications, and has a stunning indoor heated pool and impressively equipped fitness centre. Best of all though the staff are fully trained health and fitness specialists, who give you regular health MOTs â¬ essentially, your hard-earned cash gets you what is pretty much a shared personal trainer. With with Sky Sports, itâ¬"s a great post-work hangout as well, but thatâ¬"s where the real downside comes in. Because itâ¬"s so good, itâ¬"s pretty popular, and at rush hour youâ¬"ll probably find that there arenâ¬"t enough lockers or treadmills to go round. You know what most cities need? A magic bar. Everyone loves magic, and if you donâ¬"t then youâ¬"re probably too miserable to hang around with anyway. The Illusions Magic Bar on the south side of the Triangle in Clifton is a brilliant idea â¬ there is no entry price, unlike most entertainment based or themed bars (like comedy clubs), you just have to buy a drink. The downside of the venue is that itâ¬"s maybe a little small, but with plenty of tables and a seperated magic section and socialising section ,the only real drawback is that it can get a little hot, especially when some of the performances use pyrotechnics. However, the deliniated areas means that you can go and be wowed by the truly impressive and varied illusion displays (which run from 7.30pm right the way through until 1.00am) when you feel like it, while otherwise being left alone to socialise without being bothered by a man removing a lemon from your ear. There is also live music most nights with local artists on the Baby Grand Piano, yet perhaps the most impressive part of the entire experience is the stunning cocktails. They come as either singles, massive fishbowls with numerous straws, or the even larger â¬Ümagic wandsâ¬" which are probably large enough to keep a big group of you going for most of the night for the bargain price of Â£20 between you. Illusions is an excellent idea, excellently executed. Just off the city centre, the Bristol Bierkeller is the real alternative music venue of the city â¬ as much as the Carling Academy likes to lay claim to that title. Itâ¬"s grungy appearance is part of itâ¬"s charm â¬ at no point does the Bierkeller claim to be anything other than a hard rockerâ¬"s hangout and a properly atmospheric hard rock venue. Who wants to see a punk or metal band anywhere other than a place whose regular Friday night is named Puct and whose decor resembles a medieval dungeon? This is the massive appeal of the Bierkeller. The variety of bands at the venue is great â¬ Sepultura and Reel Big Fish have both recently appeared - and the long German picnic table layout and general beer stein feel is absolutely perfect for enjoying a night of headbanging. Even on nights without live performances the DJs play a really decent and definitely danceable mix of punk, heavy metal, and thrash, as well as taking requests. Saturday night also sees the venue open to just about anything or anyone, aimed largely at stag and hen nights and beginning early at 7:45. With and annual subscription of Â£200, it would be fair to say that you would expect a decent level of style and sophistication, and the Square Club doesnâ¬"t disappoint. Situated on two floors of the Berkley Square hotel, it overlooks the lovely Georgian Square gardens and has a wonderfully atmospheric sun terrace looking out over it. Apparently this is available for private hire, and they can even do a barbecue for you if you book in advance, which would make for an excellent occasion in a memorable setting. The fact that this is a members-only club acts to both its benefit and its detriment. Obviously Â£200 per year is a lot of money, but if you live within a decent distance then the Square Club will likely become your second home. Or even your first, since its probably better decorated than your flat: seriously, the decoration is full of really beautiful drapes and inspiringly original lighting designs, and the frequent art displays and installations add a real sense of creativity and vibrancy to an already gorgeous and, most crucially, enjoyable setting. The setting and dÃ©cor is fantastic, and especially attractive to the local student populace. It has sofas and funky lights, as well as generally sociable and lively atmosphere. The food is as youâ¬"d expect from your local pub â¬ nothing too flashy, with lots of bangers and mash, grilled sandwiches, and things with chips â¬ but is perfectly tasty, especially the generous helpings of roast dinner. Best of all though is the great range of ciders and ales available (this is the west country after allâ¬¦) and a real commitment to the annual Clifton Ciderthon makes it a great place to check out the best fizzy apple drinks around. Pets are also welcome, although as a family hangout itâ¬"s not particularly great as children are only welcome until 7pm.
